The Glam Rock scene had run it's course and by the end of 1974 it was effectively all over. Those that couldn't adapt simply faded away. Slade had been touted as 'The new Beatles' and Dave Hill remembers Alan Freeman asking them when they were going to do their Sgt Pepper.


"Unfortunately we hadn't got any songs about pilchards climbing up the Eiffel Tower. We hadn't moved into that one."
