Barn Records - BARN 010
Sign Of The Times, a poignant, slow number, was the second single released from the band's eighth Studio Album, Return To Base. It would later re-emerge two years later, in 1981, as the B-Side of "Lock Up Your Daughters".
My thanks to Chris 'The Historian' oSelby for his relentless research. It is said, in certain circles, that Walsall Archives have a seat reserved specifically for him and that Wolverhampton archives consult him when searching the Express & Star.

Sign Of The Times

Mondays
There's been some changes in my life.
A supersonic return flight.
It's a sign of the times.
Mondays
We've seen a man upon the moon.
The 21st century's coming soon.
It's a sign of the times.
Turn on the radio - turn up the VHF on your stereo.
Turn on the TV show - in multicolour 625 video.
These are the TV times.
These are the Radio Times.
Mondays
Beware Big Brother in '84
Test tube babes are being born
It's a sign of the times.
Lazy days
We leave the 70's far behind, for close encounters of every kind
It's a sign of the times.
Turn on the radio - (turn on your radio) turn up the VHF on your stereo.
Turn on the TV show - (turn onto stereo) in multicolour 625 video.
It's the computer age
Now it's the silicone craze
Returning to base from a day out in space will be easy I know (returning returning)
And when all's said and done, halfway up to the sun will be all systems go
Say hello to the Mondays.........
Turn on the radio - (turn on your radio) turn up the VHF on your stereo.
Turn on the TV show - (turn onto stereo) in multicolour 625 video.
These are the TV times. (x-ray vision, video mind)
These are the Radio Times.
It's a sign of the times
It's a sign of the times
It's a sign of the times

Not Tonight Josrphine
(Noddy Holder & Jimmy Lea)
Not tonight, Josephine - don't be so mean - I like the way that you do
But now I got a date with the Duke
Not tonight, Josephine - don't be so mean - I stand on my heels for you
But now I got a date at Waterloo
I want a welcome home, a welcome home
I want a welcome home, a welcome home
I want a welcome home, when I come home again
I want a welcome home, a welcome home
A welcome home, a welcome home
A welcome home, when I come home again
Not tonight-a Cleopatra, you know what I'm after, but wait until I get back home
Now I got a date in Rome
Not tonight Guinevere, you whisper in my ear, you're ready, willing and able
But now I got a date at the table
I want a welcome home, a welcome home
I want a welcome home, a welcome home
I want a welcome home, when I come home again
I want a welcome home, a welcome home
A welcome home, a welcome home
A welcome home, when I come home again
Go little Queenie.....
You're gonna get it tonight - You're gonna get it tonight
You're gonna get it tonight - You're gonna get it tonight at home
You're gonna be the Queen of the ball
Tonight's the night for Josephine, for Cleopatra, Guinevere, at home
You're gonna be the Queen of the ball
So keep it safe, keep it warm, don't'cha let it stray
A little bit lovin' goes a long long way(Indecipherable and probably rather rude)
[Choruses and ad-libs to end]
